What to expect during a Florida Autism Center Open House
What happens at an open house?
An FAC staff member will talk with you and several other parents about our program. They will provide you with general information regarding the services we offer, our rates, current wait time to begin service, getting registered, and funding options for treatment. Since multiple families may attend the open house, we will not have a lot of time to discuss your child individually (and can’t get into specifics in front of other parents anyways due to HIPAA regulations). When you feel confident that receiving our services is right for you, we will schedule an individual assessment where we will meet with you one-on-one and discuss your child and your situation in detail.
When, where, and how frequently are open houses?
Our open house schedule varies, but we typically hold at least one open house per week. Open houses are more of a “meeting” than a “mingle,” so please plan to arrive at the time the open house is scheduled to begin so that you don’t miss important information about our program.
What should I bring?
When you come to an open house at FAC, please bring ALL your current insurance cards. We will need copies of these cards, front and back, in order to check your eligibility for receiving ABA coverage. If you have filed for intent to use the McKay scholarship, bring a copy of your Matrix score and your IEP. You should also bring your schedule or calendar, as you may wish to schedule your initial assessment at the end of
your open house visit.
Can I bring my child to the open house?
We recommend that you do not bring your child with you. The open house is for learning about our program, and feedback from other parents indicates you’ll have an easier time listening and will get your questions answered more thoroughly if your child is not present. If you decide to pursue service with us, we will meet your child and talk about your specific situation in depth during an initial assessment.
How do I schedule to attend an open house?
Please call or e-mail us at the location of your choice.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
